Shane and Shannon Jensen are part of the new generation of American ballroom dancers who have created a unique partnership that has quickly won them prominence throughout the United States and Europe. Upon turning professional in 2012, they immediately won their first National Professional title and have since risen to the top of all styles they compete in.
Among the successes they’ve had in their professional competitive career, they have also been featured performers on many public television programs such as America’s Got Talent, NBC’s “The Today Show”, the PBS Special “The America’s Ballroom Challenge”, and ASN’s “The Dance League”.
Shane is originally from Sandy, UT and trained as a high level competitive gymnast from age 6 until he began ballroom dance at the age of 13. He trained in all styles of ballroom dance as an amateur winning several national amateur titles including becoming a National Amateur Youth Latin finalist, as well as 2 time National Amateur Cabaret Vice Champion. Shane later attended Brigham Young University where he received a degree in Spanish and completed a minor in Ballroom Dance.
Shannon began dancing in a beginning ballroom dance class at her junior high school also at the age of 13 and fell in love with the art after her first day. She won several amateur titles such as 2 time National Amateur Cabaret Vice Champion, and tying for 1st in the National Amateur Pre-Championship Latin at the age of 17. She also attended Brigham Young University where she graduated with a degree in Dance.
Shane and Shannon later met at Brigham Young University where they were members of the World renowned BYU Ballroom Dance Company. While completing their education they were part of the 2010 winning Blackpool Amateur Latin Formation team and had the opportunity to perform and compete all over the world including Scotland, England, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Having turned professional in fall of 2012 they moved to Stamford, Connecticut to pursue their career teaching, competing and performing. Since that time they have enjoyed great success. Their accomplishments include:
